University of Sembilanbelas November (USN) Kolaka officially held the International Conference 2023 (IC USN 2023), which was attended by 570 participants from various campuses in Indonesia. The event took place over 2 days (October 10-11, 2023) at the Sutanraja Hotel in Kolaka.
The Chairman of the International Conference Implementation Committee, I Gede Purwana Edi Saputra, stated that IC USN 2023 was officially opened by Dadan Kusdiana, the Director General of New and Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. It was followed by a Plenary Session where four keynote speakers delivered their presentations.
“The four keynote speakers are Professor Seitaro Mitsudo from the University of Fukui, Japan; Professor Kraichat Tantrakarnapa from Mahidol University, Thailand; Prof. Ahmad Tarmizi Abd. Karim from the University of Tun Hussein Onn, Malaysia; and Professor I Nyoman Sudiana from Haluoleo University,” he said.
I Gede further explained that on the first day of IC USN 2023, in addition to the Plenary Session, there were also Parallel Sessions. In the parallel sessions, speakers who had submitted their articles or abstracts to IC USN 2023 presented them. I Gede mentioned that there were approximately 150 presenters from various campuses in Indonesia who would present their articles. The presented articles covered five themes: Science, Technology, and its Application; Food Security and Sustainable Health; Social Science and Humanities; Green Energy in Mining Technology and Marine Science; and Human Resources Development in the 4.0 era.
“All discussions revolve around the management of coastal resources, not only natural resources but also human resources. The results of their articles will be published in one of the proceedings, in the form of a book of proceedings that will be published by the selected publisher, so their proceedings will also be included in the international proceedings,” he explained.
In the same venue, Nur Ihsan HL, the Rector of Sembilanbelas November University (USN) Kolaka, stated that the IC USN 2023 event is part of the effort to realize the vision of USN Kolaka to become one of the best universities in the ASEAN region.
“With IC USN 2023, we hope that USN Kolaka can be a catalyst both in the bureaucracy and industry, especially in providing scientific studies for the sustainable management of natural resources and human resources,” said Nur Ihsan.
Nur Ihsan mentioned that the IC USN 2023 event is also part of USN Kolaka’s efforts in anticipating Indonesia Emas 2045 (Golden Indonesia 2045).
“We hope that educational investment will focus on equal access and at the same time improve quality. Thus, the education level of the population will increase, resulting in excellent human resources,” he concluded. (bak)
